4. Carmel Apple Festival in Greenfield (outside Indianapolis, about 1 hour drive from Muncie):
FOCUS: "Country life" and farming
Cost: Free (but several activities may cost some money)
How to get there:
From Anderson/Muncie:
We are about 30-40 minutes from Anderson.
Go south on I-69 South towards Indianapolis. Take the IN-13 exit (Exit 14) toward Lapel/Fortville. Take ramp toward Fortville, turn left onto IN-13. Continue on IN-13 (it will become N. Madison St. for a short time). Turn right at I-67 (Broadway St or Pendleton Pike) by the Fortville library. Go about two blocks to stoplight at S. Maple Street, turn left. In about one mile, turn right at 200 N (look for signs towards Mt. Vernon Schools). Travel 3.6 miles until 200 N ends at 600 N. Turn right on 600 N. Go about one mile. Turn left on 300 W. The orchard is located about 1/4 mile down the road. Note: currently there is construction on I-13...we recommend traveling down Pendleton Pike from Anderson to Fortville instead.
Here's another (maybe faster) way to get to the Walking Man Festival in Anderson from BSU:
ReplyDeleteFrom Ball State, go to McGalliard and turn Left onto McGalliard.
McGalliard becomes 332.
Take I-69 S towards Indianapolis
Take the IN-32 N Anderson/Muncie exit
Turn Right onto IN-32
Follow IN-32 into Anderson.
In Anderson, turn Left onto Scatterfield (at a stoplight)
Turn Right onto 8th St (at a stoplight)
Turn left onto Meridian.
If have a hard time finding the festival in Anderson, just stop and ask someone. It's a very big festival, so people should be able to direct you to it.
Thanks, Lizz, this is very helpful!
